Fiscal Sponsorship
Foundations and donors require grant applicants to be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, but, obtaining and maintaining this status is nearly a full time job. We’d rather do the work for you so you can concentrate on being an artist.
Create Reel Change offers artist support with fiscal sponsorship. If you have a project in need of funding, just apply for our fiscal sponsorship program online. Approved projects are eligible to use CRC’s nonprofit status.
Donations made to fiscally sponsored proposals by Create Reel Change are 100% tax-deductible, and filmmakers are awarded 94% of each of their donations. Create Reel Change keeps 6% of each donation for administrative costs. The fiscal sponsorship program also allows Create Reel Change to support projects across the world.

CREATE REEL CHANGE FISCAL SPONSORSHIP
Fiscal Sponsorship is an important aspect of Create Reel Change and its mission. Projects submitted must fit within Create Reel Change’s mission.
Mission Statement: The ultimate goal of the Create Reel Change programs, workshops and presentations is to educate and promote awareness of marginalized community issues.
WILL MY PROJECT BE AN OFFICIAL CREATE REEL CHANGE PROJECT?
No. But after all agreements are confirmed and signed, you can present Create Reel Change as your Fiscal Sponsor. If you have a specific CRC project in mind, please consider becoming a partner.
WHAT IS FISCAL SPONSORSHIP?
Fiscal sponsorship is a fundraising tool, instead of being a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It stretches your opportunities of pursuing funding for your project by applying for funding from organizations that require a nonprofit status.
WHY WOULD I WANT FISCAL SPONSORSHIP?
You are not eligible for some grants and funding unless you have a nonprofit status. Being fiscally sponsored makes your project eligible for these donors. You also maintain your LLC or other business rating.
WHAT FUNDING SOURCES REQUESTS NON-PROFIT STATUS FOR DONATIONS?
Foundations, corporations and government agencies all require nonprofit tax exempt status.
CAN I ACCEPT INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS?
Yes you can receive individual charitable donations too. These are also tax deductible.
BUT WHAT ABOUT MY TAXES?
Create Reel Change does not offer any accounting service for your tax returns. A 1099 for the full amount to your production company will be issued. You are responsible for reporting your own income, expenses, deductions, etc.
WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS CAN I SUBMIT?
Shorts, features, documentaries, installations or any creative expression project you can think of pertaining to CRC’s mission.
WHAT HAPPENS?
When the project is accepted, a charge of six percent (6.0%) of all donations shall be deducted by Create Reel Change for administration costs. There may be other charges incurred by Create Reel Change that may be deducted from funding to the project. Send donation checks to Create Reel Change, and we return 94% to the production company. Create Reel Change also will deduct any additional costs for wire transfers, banking charges, credit card transaction fees, online donation processing or other such costs. Once everything is processed, a donation acknowledgment is sent to the donor.
We will keep $6 for every $100 collected, so it is best to make the tax deductible offer to donations of $500 or more.

You may submit your application any time.
WHEN WILL I HEAR IF MY PROJECT IS APPROVED?
Within 4-6 weeks.
DO I STILL OWN THE RIGHTS?
Create Reel Change does not interfere with your project, or any ownership. All responsibility and liability relating to any other aspect of your project remains with you.
DOES CREATE REEL CHANGE HELP WITH FUNDRAISING?
No. All aspects of fund raising are your responsability. CRC periodically offers fundraising workshops.
