See It This Way Night One Recap

Our first night of See It This Way 2023 was a success! We had a wonderful turnout; it was great to see the smiling faces of everyone who came to hang out.

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it. Thank you to our performers, filmmakers, presenters, volunteers, and everyone else who showed up to enjoy the festival. The night started with about an hour of networking and making friends, and chances to try and beat the Open Mind Escape Room. We then kicked off the fest with speakers from The Other Side Village. After this, we watched 3 of the short films. Flapdoodle the clown came out to perform, and, after him, we watched the rest of the night’s films. There was a Q&A panel with all of the filmmakers where we learned more about what inspires them to create. To conclude the show, we had two leaders of their high school’s mental health club give a presentation about the power of peers. After the entertainment, Mohan from Project Embrace was awarded the Missing Piece award and spoke about the company mission.

It was a great first night. The next fests are on May 17th and May 31st, and we hope to continue the fun and see everyone there, again. We will be running new shows and hosting new performers. We can’t wait, and thank you again to everyone who could make it this time!
